Geraldton’s Foreshore

In a few short years the Geraldton Foreshore has become one of the best loved features of the city.  Everyone has an opinion about how it should be developed.

The City of Geraldton-Greenough contracted Social Dimensions to learn what people valued about their Foreshore and what changes they supported.

The first project, conducted in late 2009, was a survey of randomly selected households.  A second internet survey in 2010 sought the views of interested residents on a specific development proposal.  Prior qualitative work meant that the surveys captured the strong and sometimes conflicting views.

The results have helped the City and Council to make decisions which take into account the community’s desire for a busy, beautiful Foreshore that is accessible to everyone.
